Wilkinson Sword razors do their best to manage my beard. This knife is probably something my Grandfather or indeed his father acquired . It is not named for the Bard of Avon, but for an officer of the Nagpore Irregular Horse.
"The Shakespear knife, so called, as it was designed by Captain Henry Shakespear, a British officer in the Indian Nagpore Irregular Horse. A military officer, author and famous big game hunter, Henry Shakespear lived much of his adult life in India. Hunting in a period where double barreled percussion muzzleloaders were the standard of the day for big game (his favorite being a Wilkinson double rifle!), his knife design was very specific and to be utilized as a last-ditch defensive weapon to be worn in the breast pocket of his shooting jacket."
