Out and About

Fellside

The west side of Kendal is very steep with dense housing on narrow alleyways with steep steps. Not many spaces for cars.  I was wandering up and down the steps looking for hiding places for my next geocache.  Very good exercise.
I spotted All Hallows Cottage, obviously once a church. Internet research reveals it was built in 1884  as a mission church to serve the poverty stricken areas of Fellside and Low Fellside. Another Victorian church.   It closed in 2002 and is now stylish flats.  The bell and the fancy stained glass windows were saved and moved into Kendal Parish church.   Very few parking places but easy walking distance to the shops,  as long as you can manage all those steps.
