Self service...

Having renewed my long lapsed membership of the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust last night, I decided to take myself off to the London Wetlands Centre at Barnes. I have to say it was a fairly underwhelming experience, simply because it was such a dull day! Even the more colourful exotic species in the penned areas were looking rather drab - the fulvous whistling duck in the extra shot was about as good as it got.

The great tit made it to top billing by virtue of showing some independence of spirit. Whilst many of its brethren were gorging themselves at the nearby peanut feeders (in company with a squirrel and two brown rats!) this little dude was picking tasty insect morsels from the bare branches of a willow tree - home made/caught meals taste better and are so much better for you!
