Seaside Shuffle

Off to Blackpool today for a spot of culture. “Blackpool” and “Culture” aren’t normally words you see in the same sentence, but we are seeing the opera “Carmen” at the Grand Theatre. We should have been seeing this in Carlisle, but the RAAC discovered in the roof of the Sands Centre - and its subsequent closure for repairs to be carried out - meant we had to find an alternative venue.
We parked up in good time to have something to eat beforehand and thought we’d wander down to the North Pier and have a look at the sea. We timed it just right as we were able to watch the evening murmuration as the Starlings came in to their roosts under the pier. A great sight, but not easy to capture due to a combination of low light, fast moving birds and the inherent limitations of an iPhone camera. Not to mention the fact that it was also bitterly cold!
Still, I’m sure things will warm up later (on stage, anyway) as Bizet’s passionate story unfolds…
