Test Valley

This lunch time we met with eight other local members of our Livery Company for an informal meal at the Grosvenor Hotel in Stockbridge, and very enjoyable it was too. I had Chalkstream trout to eat which shouldn't have travelled many "foodmiles", as Stockbridge lies in  the heart of chalk stream country, on the River Test.  Here the  river splits into a number of  channels, making the town a very watery  place, with  little pools and rushing streams, and  several bridges. Martin and I went for a short walk up the High Street after our lunch. This is a view from the widest bridge, looking upstream, across the water meadows.
