8:30pm and catching up with friends at Chez Carter.

We get together regularly to share stories of life, get ideas, keep each other accountable and, crucially, to pray with each other.

Not to be taken lightly.

A bit of a leggy cycle again, enjoyable day with the team, despite some client relationship challenges, haircut and then home for food, bedtime and smoke alarm battery before heading out.

I foolishly (!) tested the smoke alarm tonight. Which only served to make the (mains wired) device realise that the backup battery inside it was out of power. And so it chirped. And chirped. And chirped.

A quick dash to local convenience store, (overpriced) Duracell purchased, fitted. No chirping.

The lesson would seem to be: don't check your smoke alarms.
