A night at the opera

We usually catch all of Welsh National Opera’s productions. For the Spring Season they are putting on a new production of Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutti: School for Lovers. We weren’t sure we’d enjoy as the critics had been lukewarm, one calling it “St Trinian’s meets Billy Bunter”. By taking the subtitle literary, the production is set in a secondary school. It is certainly a little strange seeing members of the cast and chorus running around in uniform short skirts and short trousers and childishly misbehaving; hence the critics’ reference to Billy Bunter and St Trinians. That said, we thoroughly enjoyed a rather slight and silly opera that is not one of my favourites. After the opera, we went for supper at a new Japanese restaurant in the Bay - also very enjoyable.
On the way back to the car after a great afternoon and evening out, I quickly snapped the view outside the Millennium Centre along Roald Dahl Plass framed by the water tower on the right and the Custom House on the far left.
