One step at a time!

Mold - top of town

This view was taken from the ramparts of the original Motte and Bailey castle that stands above the town. Dating from 1072 all that's left is the mound upon which the original Motte was built. The church tower on the left dates back to the 15th century and replaced an earlier Norman church which fell into disrepair in the 14th century.

In extra's I've added a picture of some delightful cottages opposite the entrance and another of what remains of the 'castle'. By the way the stone circle isn't ancient, it was constructed in 1922 for the National Eisteddfod of Wales. This event occurs annually and comprises poetry and musical performances/competitions, it  takes place in a different location each year.
