Trapped!

I was out walking this morning when I came across this beautiful Cape Gannet entangled in a fishing net. I called a chap in our village who rescues seabirds and he managed to cut away the net which was also around its legs as well as the wing. It seemed fine so he released it into the sea. We watched it for some time as it floated in the waves, but it was obviously injured as it floated back onto the rocks. It was caught again and taken to SAMREC (the SA Marine rehabilitation centre), just a few kms away where it will be cared for. I will visit it again and see how it is doing.
