Far from the coast

I don't recall seeing oystercatchers near us before (35 miles from the nearest coast). Maybe the local farms are starting to diversify into shelllfish etc., given how often the fens and fields seem to be prone to longer-term floooding over the autumn and winter. Although, as  a quick trawl of the RSPB forums notes frequent reports of them being seen even further inland, it's just the luck of catching them during a stop-over.
