If you can't beat them...

Moss

An emergency blip taken on the phone.  Clickychick and I were out having a walk round the village.  On a drystone wall just as you get to the end of the village I spotted these moss capsules.  I took a few shots with the phone.

The capsules are the "fruiting bodies" of the plant.  Fruiting body may not be the correct description as they contain spores not seeds.  Mosses can reproduce by two methods:  Asexual reproduction where the moss splits and forms new clumps from the fragments and sexual reproduction.  Sexual reproduction can only take place hen the plant is wet as the sperm have to swim to the female part of the plant.
