A Sunflower of Siskins

Collective noun for siskins!
We've had a very lazy day, partly because we were waiting in for the carpet man and the measuring and inputting to the computer took a fair time.  The carpet man began his career as a parquet fitter at the age of 15 over a summer holiday, and never returned to school.  He was bemoaning having to use the tablet, which was not playing the game meaning he had to keep inputting the measurements.  In his day he did his calculations 'on the back of a fag packet'.  There does seem to be an awful lot of extra work generated by the use of computers.  All this technology stuff apart he was very helpful and did not try to sell us the most expensive carpet, hopefully we've chosen the right one - neither of us is good when it comes to choosing/matching householdy stuff.  At least the new curtains, which arrived today, look great, phew!  

By this time it was lunchtime at which point we lit the log burner because it was so chilly today and pretty much retired to the settee till it was time for Tony to prepare dinner and me to head out for pilates.
