Well, that backfired

An engineer came to fit a smart meter for the gas this morning, following a visit last week to fit one for electricity. The final stage was to check the gas appliances .. and the pilot light for the boiler didn't work. So he condemned the boiler and we now have no heating or hot water. But presumably we do have a fully functioning smart meter which would record our gas usage, if only there was any.

I don't know anyone who has had a smart meter fitted without some kind of negative incident - we should have known better.
