A Gentle Neighbor

This fine fellow is one of a pair of oxen raised by my neighbor down the road.  (His mate is on the other side of the hay feeder and was unwilling to pose for a photograph.)  He's giving me the "side eye" here. They are raised as show steer for our various country fairs and enter pulling competitions.  I dusted off my "big girl" camera and tried using it again.  I'd forgotten how heavy it is, but it does make a difference.  I photographed the farm owner 16 years ago for my First Person Rural series.  It's in the extras along with his wife's portrait. Rain should stop early this afternoon.
