Opposite the Ram Inn in Cliviger is the 16th Century church of St John the Divine - Burnley's second oldest church.
It’s the final resting place of Crimean War hero General Sir James Yorke Scarlett who led the Charge of the Heavy Brigade during the Battle of Balaclava on October 25, 1854.
Lady O’Hagan, the last of the Towneley family to live in Towneley Hall, Burnley, is also buried in the grounds of the church.
