164

This is the driver of the very last 164 service in Suffolk. I travelled on her bus from Woodbridge to Saxmundham to Ipswich today. The service is cancelled from this evening.

It is nice of her to smile, under the circumstances.

(I also took a picture of her colleague as I travelled back with him on the very last journey of sister bus 165. It too is no more, as of this evening.)

I live in the 10th largest town in Suffolk. After this cut we will have 2 regular through services an hour in each direction to link the Suffolk Coast with Ipswich. No buses at all in the evenings, on Sundays or on holidays.

So, yet another blow to rural public transport - once again overlooked and squashed by the urban ignoramuses and car apologists who have happily ignored the rural bus while pouring billions into rail and road subsidies for the last 30 years to appease the business travellers and the motoring lobby who they clearly see as more 'important'.

Why give a damn for those who can't drive? who can't afford to drive? and those whose age or physical condition prevents them from driving?

Their votes can't be worth very much can they?
