The fittings in the outbuilding loo are now in and working, including water heater and frost-warmer. Work on the outbuilding suspended floor should start midweek.

This week's Iggy Pop Confidential on Radio 6 Music was guest presented by Manic Street Preacher's Nicky Wire. It's always refreshing to get a slightly different take of choices by different deejays and this was no exception. Amongst his choices was this eighties band whose single Big Rock Candy Mountain reached no. 2 in the UK Indie charts and was in John Peel's Festive Fifty (chosen by listeners) for that year, and this song, Room At The Top was on the B-side and previously unheard by me. Most of the band had been in a group called Meat Whiplash but the lead singer was Alexandra Taylor, who had just left the first class Edinburgh band The Shop Assistants. I was sad to learn that she had died in 2005, but pleased to find another example of her vocals.
