… that would be BookyGoatherd again! No other photos taken today — it was chilly and overcast again.

In the afternoon we went to the multiplex a 10-minute drive away to see Wicked Little Letters, because it was the only film on offer that we mildly fancied. Within five minutes of the start, S pitched what the twist would be, and he was of course right. To be fair, it was quickly obvious to all, and the tension was all in whether the innocent Rose would get sent down for writing filthy anonymous letters to her buttoned-up neighbour Edith. It’s based on a true story from the 1920s.

It was no masterpiece, but it was entertaining enough, and a good one for International Women’s Day, as all the men were totally useless and all the work was done by the sassy women, who end up forming a gang to help Rose catch the villain in the act. A sinister note was added by Timothy Spall as Edith’s controlling, abusive father. I really liked Jessie Buckley in the role of Rose — I don’t think I’ve seen her in anything else.

Blip: the books we bought in Waterstones the other day.Now settling in for another quiet evening. Latest status on S’s mum: we should be able to visit on Sunday. Flowers for Mother’s Day duly bought on the way home!
