A walk around Charlton Horethorne

Shopping this morning then when P went to work, I went for a wander around the lanes in Charlton Horethorne. I spoken with a man outside his Grade 2 listed cottage and he said he believed the sundial was built by local master builder in the eighteenth century. The first picture is a plaque on what was once the police station.
There’s obviously so much history here but I was saddened to see that a village farm had been sold off and the locals are fighting a large housing development which wouldn’t have the proper drainage system. We seem to be losing so much ancient pasture here . I know people need houses but very often they are large mansions not for locals .
