Going going gone

As it was raining we decided to go for a sheltered walk round AH grounds before going up to Ulverston.

Oh dear.. we must stop going for a while or at least avoid the south end. There was a mechanical digger scraping away all signs of vegetation.  It was quite upsetting.

We saw the head gardner and I asked him why so much topsoil had been removed , not to mention all the shrubbery etc.  He said it was necessary to remove all the roots from the removed trees. It will be interesting to see what does manage to grow  there.

. The trunks in the photo are 'coppiced laurel so they should sprout.

The path has been churned up too so we ll avoid  it for a while.

Apparently How Tun woods has had extensive coppicing  work done too and it is now very muddy. Another place to avoid.

The Dock Museum  grounds are also having work done too.  .. more mud than gardens at the moment.

Thank goodness we have the park nearby
