Grandma what's that?

I listened to a talk recently that explored how children learn and know to point. And how do they know when we point at something like a cat for example that they know we mean the cat and not just its ears or not the cat and its environment.

Anyway conversation today.
"Do you like that?" As T devours a pain au chocolat
Big nod
"Do you know what that's called?"
Big nod
"Pain au chocolat"
"Can you say that?"
Shake of the head.
"When will you be able to say that?"
"When I'm a big boy and I'm just a little boy"
"When will you be a big boy?"
"A long long time"
"How will you know when you are a big boy?"
"When I can say that chocolat fing"
Eh voila!
