Rupert the Bear

Here is the latest post box topper in Chobham. Quite why it's featuring Rupert the Bear, I don't know. Rupert the Bear is a cartoon character who first appeared in the Daily Express in 1920 and I believe the cartoon strip still appears in the paper (I wouldn't know - I never read it!). We were a Daily Mirror family growing up so I was used to The Perishers, Andy Capp and the Cloggies. I did receive the Rupert the Bear annual as a child as an occasional Christmas present and remember enjoying his adventures.
