Still Spiky

This cactus has many projecting sharp points. As if its necessary, it's yet another reminder of the incredible diversity of nature.
I have just been lent a copy of the International Garden Photographer of the Year book (2016). It's full of inspiring images, many of which are highly unusual. One for instance shows a display case full of different varieties of gooseberries exhibited at a show by the Mid-Cheshire Gooseberry Association. The gooseberries are arranged individually and in blocks. The overall impression seems to bear a resemblance to a computer keyboard. With so many images available now on social media it is good sometimes to spend time looking at a single image or a small number of images in a book or at a gallery.
