Pointless chain

This is up at one of the big houses (estates) that surround the town. This fence, arguably has some point to its being, as there’s a slope to the to the right down to a stream. Yet a fence as elaborate as this; no, too much. Surprised it was just hedged with either rhododendron or yew, as the big estates are prone to.
