Bo’ness to Blackness

Today we walked a stretch of the John Muir Way, from Bo’ness to Blackness Castle and back (8.5km). From the start you get great views across the Forth and down to the castle with the Forth bridges beyond. The castle was built in the 1440’s and now under the care of Historic Scotland. As we are members we popped in for a short visit but have been before. Had a nice pub lunch at the Lobster Pot in Blackness village then back along the path and beach to the car. Occasional glimpses of sunshine, occasional drizzle but no wind and pleasant weather for walking. Lots of Redshank and Curlew on the sands and Shelduck and Teal at sea. A good day out!
