Hitching a ride

With Messy Church this morning and two short services at lunch time, it was rather a long morning. 

As I left church I saw this moth on my car door and it didn't want to fly away. It was still there when I got home. It made me wonder what the equivalent distance of travel would be for us, relative to size, and also whether insects have a home and whether it would now be able to find its way back, or if it really wasn't bothered where it travelled to.
