24 hours in hospital

Well , it's been a roller-coaster past 48 hours, first because neither of us recognised the stroke symptoms and attributed them to accidental falls. Then the last 24 hours in hospital .

The good news is that M is back home. The bad news is that it was a stroke, probably Covid related which he had a few weeks ago.

The doctor told him they are seeing an increase  in the number of strokes with people who have had Covid in their recent past. This was news to us.

They don't know why but there is ongoing research into it.
Meanwhile  the only residual damage is that he has a walking/ balancing  problem and uses a stick.
Hopefully that will clear up with exercises in the coming weeks.

Thank you all for your lovely comments and concern. Much appreciated. This is a lesson once again that we should never take health for granted and to be more aware of stroke symptoms.
Oh yes and thank- you to the NHS.  When it is an emergency they do act fast and efficiently.

Photo: this heron looks like he has taken up residence beside our pond. The attraction is that its full of frogspawn.
