Tiny Innit?

Lots of bugs about on the first day of spring in the nice sunny, mild weather. I saw my first peacock butterfly of 2024, together with an umbellifer longhorn beetle, soldier flies, a male tawny mining bee and lots of bumble bees.

The insect above is another planthopper, Asiraca clavicornis. I've never seen one before. They used be widespread but are now restricted to the London area and the Thames estuary. It is not known why. They like derelict land. It has white socks on two pairs of its legs. Essex man used to favour these but I think he now prefers loafers without socks.
