Dahlia Planters Completed

A banner day today as we completed our dahlia planters.

Despite the significantly warm summer afternoon, we soldiered on and finished up the project.

Kathy has noticed slugs and snails dining on the dahlias.

We're trying out a trick to keep them out of the planters.

Look closely along the bottom edge and you'll see a 5 inch band of copper flashing that encircles each of the planters.

Apparently the snails and slugs will notice the galvanic response created by the copper giving them a "hot foot".

As a result, according to the experts, they will not slide across the copper barrier.
