New Alpines series, No. 5

3 Lewisia cotyledons

Lewisias are North American Rocky Mountain alpines. They grow in Southern Oregon and Northern California.
They are named after Meriwether Lewis of the famous Lewis and Clarke expedition  of the early 19th. Century which trecked from St. Louis to the Pacific northwest of what is now the USA.
They are not difficult to grow but it is best to water them from below as they do not like water round the base of the leaves.
