Railway Village.

I was at the last Unlocking Collections volunteer event at the museum store today. We have now catalogued and re wrapped almost all of the Local Art collection that hadn’t been done before. The next phase of the project is to work on individual research, based on some of the artwork that we have been looking at.

I have chosen to look at “Pubs in Paintings”. Swindon Museum and Art has a good collection of paintings that have pubs in them. Hopefully, I can find out a bit more information about the artists, the pubs and their history. I’m also planning to take some photos of the pubs ( if they are still there) or what is there now. You will be seeing these on Blipfoto!

Today’s picture is of a row of houses in the Railway Village in Swindon. These were purpose built for railway workers for the GWR factory.
