New Bench

Excellent weather today and it just felt different - Spring. We walked from Broadsands to Berry Head, returning on the bus from Brixham. The Little Bunting was still at the second car park at Broadsands, so we went there first and talked to a couple who came from Poole in Doset arriving at 8am this morning, so the little bird is still exerting its influence, and cheering people up. Murmurs of disapproval though about the lone birder who was not observing the birdwatchers code and was inching quietly too close.
We saw a Brimstone and some Comma butterflies in Grove Woods, and watched two buzzards give us a flying display for several minutes, to the accompanying sounds of a great spotted woodpecker, and the yaffle of a green one. The new bench at Churston Cove was a very pleasant surprise - sturdy and well made and very new. We heard the call of a tawny owl as we sat there. Not sure who we have to thank. Next time we pass it might say. A great day.
