Iceland - Day 2

Up for breakfast and then checked out of hotel. Rather tired with no sleep. Started by heading through the city and out into the snow of the highlands. Started the day at the Raufarholshellir lava tunnel which was awesome. This was one of the 'skylights' with snow accumulations from the winter. Down and out of the tunnel and carried on past Hveragerdi and out to the Geysirs at Geysir, then Gullfoss and Thingvellir - the classic Golden Circle route - didn't stop at Efstidalur and went past Laugarvatn where I stayed last year. Home via the road past HEP schemes and stopped off at the Bonus supermarket where kids bought all sorts of stuff. Back to hostel... had my own room which was fantastic!! At 8.32, I got an alert that a new eruption had started. Out to see the glow in the sky from over 45 miles away... live scenes on the TV.... incredible timing!!
