black-tailed godwit

Taken at Martin Mere. Only 5 whooper swans now. Whether these are injured birds or whether they are birds from farther south making a stop off before heading back to Iceland is anyone's guess.

Plenty of godwits.

I've taken this shot with my new lens. Not quite the same quality as my prime lens, but as it is a 100 - 400 zoom,  and much lighter, it is more versatile and easier to carry. Also the new lens will focus much closer should I wish to take butterfly and flower shots. It will take me awhile to get used to it. I am annoyed that I didn't have the lens fully extended for this shot. When you are used to a prime lens it is easy to forget to turn the zoom ring.
