Greater Stitchwort

According to the Woodland Trust, this is also known as Star of Bethlehem and also Snapdragon because when the seed capsules ripen, they can be heard 'popping'.

A good source of nectar for early insects, the plant is also edible by humans and medicinally it has been used to heal wounds… as well as being a cure for a ‘stitch’ - stomach pain.

There was lots of it in the hedgerows today as Peter and I had our bike ride. We were a little quicker than last time, but my legs and lungs could certainly tell!
