I Went for a Walk

Just around the ‘hood, and only a mile, but a walk nonetheless, and I was happy to be out in the sun before it clouded over.  We seem to be sitting here waiting for the predicted storm to start—there’s always so much lingo involved simply to say it’s gonna rain. The possibility hangs there in the gusty warm wind, in the thick sky, and you just want to say Do It Already, dump it and get on with it. The wisteria on the carport is almost glowing in the soft grey evening light. Incandescent sounds too dramatic, but it is incandescent and it is dramatic, and it is spring, and there are lilacs and daffodils and fat magnolias and plum blossoms and pink crabapple flowers dropping gently to the sidewalk. And we’ve made it here again, into all this glory and sweetness. Is that what Hallelujah means?
