Jumping Jiminy!

I disturbed this cricket when I was watering the garden this morning. He jumped quickly over to this dead leafy area and then stayed there so of course I had my trusty phone in my pocket and took a couple of quick shots before he took off.

He has some fascinating attributes especially the three big pointy things out the back end! The two outside ones are hairy and the middle one is smooth, I guess they are some kind of sensors but really I have no idea what he uses them for! He's an incredible jumper and the big muscles in his back legs are amazingly huge!!
