(083) Porte Buildings

The East Port Buildings at Burntisland were built in 1899, designed by Swanston and Legge Architects in the Flemish style. The building to the right was the Porte Cinema which was built in 1915 by the Burntisland Cinema House Company. The Porte building remains in use as housing with shops and a pub at ground level but the cinema closed down in 1939. After years of use as storage facility and then snooker/ hall and amusement arcade, the former cinema was converted into apartments in  2004.
