Langdale Fell

Today we had the intention to walk up Scafell Pike, but the weather forecast was rather mixed, fog, wind, rain but continually changing on the forecast web site.

So we decided yesterday that we would set off to the start and see waht theweather brought. We parked at Dungeon Ghyll and set off, a bit windy but otherwise ok. There is a decision point where we could continue to Scafell, or instead to a lower walk to Angle Tarn. We took the lower option as the wind was getting stronger and the cloud base already quite low.

We walked up to Angle Tarn, by which time the wind was so strong it was difficult to stand upright. We decided against walking along the ridge but to go back down the way we had
come up. By the time we got down to the car it was hot enough to sit and have a refreshing beer at the pub, while looking up at the still low cloud base above us.

Sky is a bit over exposed but I have images to makean HDR version when I get home.
