80th birthday ceilidh

Backblip

The concert on Saturday evening was a fantastic time despite the glitch in the Gloria of Puccini, from which we recovered and seemingly no one in the audience noticed!

Then in the second half one of the altos fainted so Christopher stopped the piece we were doing while St John ambulance people removed her to the side of the church! We ended with the rousing Amens of the Rossini to great applause. It was a joy to be part of!

Today , Sunday, was another full day with a confirmation service in the morning with the Bishop of Plymouth who had a very bad back so had to sit for most of the service! He did manage to stand for his sermon but he must have taken very strong pain killers! He has a bulging disc at L5! The candidate , all fourteen of them had written their testimonies and read them out to the congregation, some before the children left for their groups and some after! They were all very different and showed the reality of their faith in the Lord Jesus!

In the evening I, along with members of the choir had been invited to an 80th birthday ceilidh at Staddon Heights Golf Club. There were three musicians and a caller so no excuse not to dance. It was a very joyful occasion with simple food, well prepared, and cake of several varieties and friends enjoying themselves. The south Hams singers came as friends and also to sing some great sea shanties with gusto!
