Grazing Together

Yet another day which started with some promise, then turned out to be grey & bleak, with a very cold wind. I decided that today's Blip would be something from our afternoon dog walk on a regular local route. A dandelion with a hoverfly? - the latter looked frozen to death. Fungi on an old oak trunk? - done many times before. Eventually we noticed a large flock of middle-sized birds wheeling around, before coming to land in the sheep paddock behind the little caravan site at the farm. P said "Fieldfares", I said "Starlings". On closer inspection through a gap in the hedge - & with the aid of the 250mm lens - it turned out that we were both correct as it was a mixed flock. The heavily-cropped Blip shows just a small portion of the flock which had spread across the field, with some of the sheep in the background - and yes, the largest "sheep" is an alpaca.
