V2

I walked past a newly opened office block on the corner of Farringdon Street and Charterhouse Street and noticed this memorial set in the pavement. There was a V2 rocket attack that demolished part of Smithfield Market on 8 March 1945 (only 2 weeks before the last V2 attack).  110 people died, including lots of women and children who came to buy rabbits that were for sale in the market.  Good to remember but so sad.
