High Life

I can't remember a higher holiday cottage. The lower bend in the flue is 3m from the ground; the total height must be at least 8m. It's an interesting height to put a window

We are in the Manifold valley, at the south end of the Peak District national park. We are hoping for walks, but there is much talk of mud. Time will tell

The artwork on the walls is an eclectic mix, that I think may be governed by what was available in local second-hand shops, rather than any themed selection. A depiction of a WWI cavalry charge on the end wall. A reproduction of a priceless tapestry from 1500 on the left. The original is in the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, "woven in fine wool and silk with silver and gilded threads" and has the "theme of marriage and procreation" . I wonder if our landlord knows any of this
