blippers day out

We had an action packed day.
Freespiral, BAT and I set out to Castletownsend, we saw a reconstructed Iron Age hill fort, and the 'Fingers', a row of standing stones. We went to an old cemetery, a ruined castle and a holy well. We had a picnic by the sea in the drizzle.
We were joined by Traveller's Joy and went on to Toe Head to view a promontory fort and to walk the clifftops. We saw choughs, and a seal and many different seabirds.
We found a lost holy well and a fairies' home. We finished with a look at the signalling tower, where the choughs nest and where we could see as far east as the Head of Kinsale.
A great day altogether, with all weathers thrown in.

This is of the top of the promontory fort, showing the precarious narrow path with sheer fall to the rocks and the waves on either side which leads on to it.
