Alright on the knight!

A bit of a change of scene after three days of blipping about bumblebees. Today was wet, windy and a bit cool but, despite the weather, we had fun down at Linlithgow Palace where Historic Scotland had organised an afternoon of martial re-creation from mediaeval times. The highlight was a jousting tournament featuring four mounted nights and their squires, all in chain mail and the knights riding lovely horses wearing fine, coloured cloth tabards. It was a great demonstration of the skills once required to be a knight and a display of excellent horsemanship. This gentleman won the overall honours. Our little daughter, safe under the rain cover of her buggy, loved seeing the horses in action so close to. Personally, I think I've missed my era...
