Pleach

By Pleach

These are the two small fishing boats based at Fisherrow whereas the rest there are pleasure boats, many of which spend the winter on the quay.  Today several owners were busy working on their boats preparing them for the new season while a machine was busy excavating sand nearby.  Apparently for the second time this year sand has had to be cleared from Fisherrrow Harbour as strong winds had blown sand from the beach over the wall into the harbour covering one of the boats and creating a ridge. The red boat had to be moved so that sand could be removed otherwise it would have been difficult for boats to float until the tide is much higher.  It dries out at low tide so there is already a very limited time to sail out of the harbour without further deposition.   It will not be easy getting all of the fine sand out of the red boat and hopefully it has not damaged the intricate workings.

If you are interested here is a video of the boats being lifted out last October.  It lasts about 9 minutes and the two  boats  above are about 5 minutes in.
