Killdeer, South Tufa State Reserve, CA

This Killdeer is performing a distraction display for me on the banks of Mono Lake, an effort to lure me away from its nest. Not far down the shore an American Avocet also gave me a similar display. While I was able to spot the Avocet nest, I never did find the Killdeer's. I didn't spend too much time looking though; Killdeer nests are extremely hard to spot, and I didn't want to end up finding it by hearing the crunch of eggshells under my feet.
