Around the Block

Mauri

Mauri is one of Barcelona’s best patisseries on Rambla de Catalunya. Today must be one of the busiest days of the year for them and they had an impressive display of Easter goodies on sale including some wonderfully detailed tableaux . . . the middle height, left-ish of frame one, nearest the camera is a cool €179!

We sat on their terrace for a glass of cava in the early afternoon before a wander and the wonder-find of a new-to-us Brazilian restaurant, Manga Rosa, directly in front of the Floridablanca cinema we had bought tickets for. Their feijoada was the best we have had here!

The film we saw was the sobering and impactful The Zone of Interest. Maybe not the ideal Easter movie but something important to add to the Holocaust oeuvre and to our understanding of the human condition. The sound and the score will long live in my memory.
