Blue Bridge Northwich

Dorcas running along River Weaver Navigation heading for Winsford after passing under the Northwich By-pass road (A556) bridge which as you can imagine is called the "Blue Bridge" those of you heading to Oulton Park or North Wales from Manchester area might know it as the blue bridge on the dip.
Hartford Blue Bridge was constructed in 1938 to enable traffic to bypass Northwich and to enable boats to navigate the Weaver Navigation (see HOB UID 1340298) more easily. It replaced an older, narrower, single-span stone bridge. In conjunction with construction of the new bridge, the road was widened.

The Hartford Blue Bridge is a single-span road bridge carrying the dual-lane A556 (Northwich Bypass) across the Weaver Navigation at Hartford, Cheshire. The bridge has a riveted steel girder construction (painted blue theres a surprise) with a low-arched span flanked by pedestrian walkways. Tall Art Deco-style concrete abutments at each end bear the old Cheshire coat of arms.

Anywheys I cant drivel on any more about the bridge so time to put the kettle on, todays blip will follow shortly as I thought I'd uploaded this yesterday but obviously forgot to publish after writing my blog.....Doh!
