Wedding traditions applied in Germany

My cousin, Max, got married in Eckernförde in Germany. He was born in England, raised in Argentina and married a lovely Greek woman, Elena - so we had a wedding that featured English, Spanish, Green and German. Some wedding traditions seem to transcend languages, however, including having "Just Married" sprayed on the back of a car and a few tin cans tied to the bumper....
